This page lists what changed in each ESS release. When we ship a larger update, we add a new entry here.
Shorter gap between welfare vetting slots
When administrators schedule vetting for a nominee under Welfare → Administration, each booking now blocks only the next 30 minutes instead of a full hour, so more interview times can be used on the same day.
- Vetting time conflicts use a 30-minute buffer after each booked slot
- Times outside that window stay available for other nominees
Updates to welfare election voting
Voting and nomination under Welfare → Elections show when each window opens and closes, with a live countdown while the phase is open. You cannot vote again for a position you already cast, and skipping the last position completes your ballot. Positions you have voted for are marked with a green check on the ballot steps.
- Nomination and Voting tabs show the phase window and countdown at the top of the card
- Already-voted positions stay locked; finishing or skipping the last step ends the ballot
- Voted position pills show a green check so you can see your progress
Paper requests and meeting cancellations
Opening Paper Requests under Management no longer crashes the page. Cancelling a meeting request stays on the list and marks it Cancelled. After you submit a paper request, the list keeps its paging and search.
- Management → Paper Requests opens without a page error
- Cancelling a meeting request updates the row to Cancelled
- The paper requests list keeps paging and search after a successful request
Welfare elections
You can take part in welfare association elections from ESS. Apply for a position, ask colleagues to witness and endorse your nomination, and administrators can run the schedule and review applications.
- Apply for a position and track your nomination under Welfare → Elections
- Witness and endorse (or decline) nominations that need your support
- Replace a supporter who declined so your application can continue
- Administrators can set election schedules, review nominations, and approve or withdraw candidates
Transport requests
You can raise and track vehicle transport requests from ESS. Heads of department can review pending requests under Management and approve or decline them.
- Submit, edit, and cancel your own transport requests under Transport
- Track status with Pending, Assigned, Completed, and other tabs
- Managers (Head of Department) can approve or decline pending requests from Management → Transport Requests
Attendance, meetings, memos, and documents
Clock-in and face registration are clearer and more reliable. You can request online and recurring meetings, and memos and internal documents are easier to work with. Profile details also save more cleanly.
- Improved attendance clock and face capture, including clearer feedback when you register your face
- Online and recurring meeting requests, with catering badges and meeting links
- Memo compose and follow-up improvements
- Documents and correspondence updates, including confidential markings
- More reliable profile form validation and saving
More reliable sign-in and safer pages
Some screens were not sending your login details with requests, so actions could fail. That is fixed. Meeting requests were updated, and news pages now check what you are allowed to do before showing buttons.
- Fixes for requests that were missing your login token
- Meeting request improvements
- News pages respect your permissions before allowing actions
- Small display fix for a Bootstrap map file
Clearer appraisal history
The appraisal years list is easier to follow. You now see one row per review (not one row per year), review dates as small pills, and a summary of your score for the selected year at the top.
- One row per review instead of per year
- Review window dates shown as pills
- Year score summary at the top of the page
Change password works as required
Changing your password now uses your current session correctly. If the organisation requires a new password, you stay on that screen until you finish — you cannot skip it with the Back button.
- Change password uses your signed-in session
- Required password changes cannot be skipped
Stronger sign-in and sessions
Security, how long you stay signed in, and how the app checks that you are still you were all improved so your session is safer in day-to-day use.
Login and opening other NPA apps
Signing in now always identifies you as an ESS user, so opening another suite app after login is no longer blocked by a false “inactive” check. You also get a clearer message if that hand-off fails.
- Fixes login when continuing into another NPA app
- Clearer error messages if that step fails
Balance Score Card appraisals
Performance management (PMS v3) now uses the Balance Score Card. You can follow appraisals in that framework inside ESS.
New ESS
ESS was rebuilt with a modern design. Pages should feel faster and easier to use than the previous version.
